We are seeking experienced self-employed bookkeepers from the Kingsbridge to Ivybridge area of Devon to augment our services to hotels, restaurants and inns – the licensed trade in this area of the county.

The role is to take on the monthly bookkeeping of a client or clients – to trial balance, one or two days per month for each client.

Firstly you visit the client to pick up the papers for the month just gone. Then working from home you carry out the work. Briefly - keying sales from a spreadsheet, purchase invoices and payments, then reconciling the bank and other control accounts. This is reviewed and accounts completed by A&G. Either you, or another member of the team returns the papers to the client.

We expect a seven day turnaround of the work, which you can carry out flexibly at a time to suit you. We pay a set monthly fee to you per client. It is for you to tell us the rate that you expect, on which we may negotiate. No travelling expenses are payable, this will be included in your fixed rate.

We use Liberty Accounts, an Internet based accounting system. This is simpler to understand than Sage, but you will receive one day of paid training at our offices in the first instance.

It is expected that you are an experienced bookkeeper with a track record that you can prove to us, of producing accounts to trial balance, often in Sage, but equally in other programmes. You will need a driving licence and available transport. You will also need a computer with Internet access and proper workspace within your home. It is expected that you will be insured to use your vehicle and home for work purposes, which will be checked.

You may carry out the work of as little as one client, or perhaps a handful. You may be requested to cover sickness and absence for other bookkeepers. We are a growing organisation and if you show the ability and desire, then you can grow with us. We aim to have fun as well and there will be occasional meetings and social gatherings with the rest of the team.
